Gimmicks?

Got an email from NewsM*x about a diet video they recommended.  I did an online heart test with them the other day, and got on their mailing list.  So, thinking they'd have some interesting info. to share, clicked the email link to watch.

Infuriating.

First of all, the audio was enhanced with the words on the screen, but not allowing me to fast-forward through the boring parts, and let me tell you, there were lots of boring parts.  I'm a 'cut to the chase' sort of person and this was a tad maddening.  I'm noticing more and more sites using an audio/words with no recourse but to listen to the whole doggone thing---and not providing the viewer with how long it is.

I don't have time for this.  Finally clicked out and was given a box that warned me about 'leaving the page', but I wanted out anyway.  Then they said that there was a transcript available to read.  So, read through that and what was really annoying was that the writer of the piece kept talking about how expensive other diet plans were, and how she'd spent so much money on them---blah, blah, blah---and the real kicker was when they asked for almost forty bucks to get the goods.

And oddly enough, I just went back there to see the site and now the scroll bar is up, and I find that the whole bit lasts 30 minutes.

Who has time for that only to get hit for money at the end of it.  And no indication that it's a money-making scheme?  I won't say that it doesn't work, but everybody's got their hands in our pockets.  So frustrating.

But, by the way, my total weight loss now after 2 weeks, is seven pounds. Not bad for me, and fortunately it's not gone back up.
